Coloursport 30-Day Mascara
After having my lashes professionally tined at my local salon last year and paying an extortionate price of around £15 for the one treatment I went on the hunt for a DIY solution and it wasn’t long before I stumbled across this Coloursport 30 day mascara on the shelves in Boots.
For a price of around £6 I bought this 30 day mascara a few months ago and t be honest I am fairly pleased with the results. I would say that it can actually last longer than the specified 30 days but would need a top up around that time if not a week or so later. I bought the black colour but it is also available in a shade of brown for those with lighter features but I find the black gives the best results.
The packet contains several items, which include the developer, the black cream, a mixing plastic tray and stick along with a little booklet of instructions. They do say to give yourself a test patch at least 24 hours before you plan to use this product encase of allergic reaction but I didn’t do this because I have never had any sort of reaction to any thing before and having it done at the beauticians before I thought that I would be ok. However I would recommend that everyone trying this at first must do a test patch just to be on the safe side.
The best way I have found to use this mascara product is to first make sure that your face and eye makeup has been totally removed and that your face is clean and fresh and without any product. I would them suggest applying a barrier around the eye area such as Vaseline to ensure that if you accidentally get any of the dye on your skin that it can be easily removed if this barrier is in place.
The product then needs to be mixed and the instructions suggest that a pea sized amount of the black cream paste is to be put into the plastic tray and then on top of this you have to drop 2 to 3 drops of the developer. You then need to get the mixing stick and thoroughly mix both the paste and the developer together. The developer is the consistency of water and mixed with the cream beings to form a pale grey coloured paste. Lumps do form so I suggest mixing it for a good minute or two before using it.
Once the product is mixed well to a nice consistency you can then apply the product to the lashes. I find it better to start off with the bottom lashes as this makes there less chance of getting the product from the top lashes hitting the eyelid skin when you are trying to do the bottom. The stick that they give you to mix the mascara is used to apply it to the lashes and this is ok but I often find myself using cotton wool buds instead as this gives more hold on the product and less chance of it dripping off the stick.
I always spread the mascara thickly and clumpy looking on the lashes just to make sure that even tiny bit of eyelash is covered with the dye. It can take around 10 minutes to apply the product to both sets of eyelashes top and bottom. It them says to leave the dye on the lashes for around 10 minutes but I sometimes go over this just to make sure it really has taken well.
After the waiting time has passed removing the 30 day mascara can be pretty easy but you have to really make sure not to get any in your eye as this really does sting quite a bit. I use more cotton buds to take the dye off and just use a little bit of warm water. This does use up quite a few cotton buds but I do think that it is the most effective way of getting all the dye off. You could use a cotton wool pad but again be careful not to get the dye on your eyelids or under your eyes.
After removing the dye you are able to see the results straight away and I do think it look brilliant. The way you put the mascara on the lashes does make a difference and I try to get the top lids looking as though I have applied eye liner as I dye the lashes so close to the root and the eyelid that it appears as if liner has been applied.
It really does make the lashes stand out a lot more and I find especially my bottom lashes which are a lot fairer that the top set look a lot more prominent. I would still use normal mascara if I was going out but I think I would be happy to leave the house with no makeup on with this on my lashes. As it gives the appearance of mascara having been used. It doesn’t make the lashes look thicker or longer but it does save on looking over made up. I see a lot of women who have used mascara and literally you can see lumps of the product clinging to the lashes and looking like old spiders. This is really not appealing and with the use of this product you will never have to deal with lump lashes again.
This product really works and I think for the price is an absolute bargain. I have even used it during pregnancy and I do hear you are not meant to use dyes or things whilst pregnant but I have not seen any harm in it. I think this is prefect for those who do not like to apply makeup everyday and is perfect for use before going away on holiday. Brilliant product!
